DAY 1: DEPART U.S.A

You’ll leave this evening on an overnight flight to Cairo.

DAY 2: CAIRO

Welcome to Egypt. You are greeted by your guide and transferred to the hotel. This afternoon you have the opportunity to become acclimated to a new time zone. Overnight Cairo. (D.)

DAY 3: CAIRO

Our sightseeing tour begins with a visit to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities containing the priceless artifacts of King Tut and other treasures. After lunch we continue with a visit to the Citadel of Saladin, and the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali. Enjoy a visit to the fascinating Khan El Khalili Bazaar where you will find hundreds of shops brimming with a rich assortment of spices, perfumes, gold and silver jewelry. This evening we take a short drive to the Pyramids to see the Sight and Sound light show. Overnight Cairo. (B.D.)

DAY 4: CAIRO and the PYRAMIDS

Your full day of sightseeing begins with a visit to Memphis, the first capital of ancient Egypt, which was destroyed by Emperor Theodosis. Continue to the Step Pyramid of Sakkara, the forerunner of the pyramids. The tomb of King Zoser is over 200 feet high and resembles a giant set of stairs. We travel on Giza Road to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Pyramids guarded by the Sphinx, where you stand in awe before the imposing figure. Overnight Cairo. (B.D.)

DAY 5: CHRISTIAN CAIRO

Today we visit Old Cairo, where early Christianity first flourished in Egypt. Let us not forget, the Egypt of the Old and the New Testament and the land where Moses and the Holy Family took refuge. Visit the Abu Sarga Churches, the oldest church, the oldest synagogue and the Coptic Museum. Enter the Hanging Church to see what many believe to be a miraculous image of Our Lady, and the Coptic Church of St. Mary. Today you’ll meet with Egyptian Christians who share with us their religious experiences. In the afternoon the early Christian Monasteries in Wadi El Natrun, a semi desert setting, before returning to the hotel for dinner. Overnight Cairo. (B.D.)

DAY 6: CAIRO- ABU SIMBEL- ASWAN

In the morning we depart for Cairo airport and a short flight to Abu Simbel. This not to be missed wonder of Ancient Egypt contains the Great Temple of Ramses II and the smaller Temple of Queen Nefertari. We are amazed at the ability of the Ancient people to build such masterpieces. Enjoy a short flight to Aswan, where upon arrival in Aswan you are transferred to your luxury Nile Cruise ship. We embark on an afternoon tour by falucca, the traditional Nile sailing boat to visit the Elephantine Island, the impressive Aga Khan Mausoleum on the West Bank of the Nile and the Botanical Gardens created by Lord Kitchener on an island in the center of the Nile. DAY 7: KOM OMBO- EDFU

Our river adventure begins, as we stop to see the might temples, drifting in glorious sunrises and sunsets past palm trees and farm life which has changed little through the centuries. We start with a sight of Aswan High Dam, the pride of modern Egypt we continued to Temples of Philae, saved from the rising waters of the Nile, where you will visit the Great Temples of Isis and Hathor. Continue to the Granite Quarries to see the Unfinished Obelisk. In the afternoon we sail to Kom Ombo to visit the Greco- Roman temple dedicated to two contrasting gods: Sobek, with its crocodile head is god of the underworld, and Haroeris, the winged god of the sky. Continue upriver to Edfu. (B.L.D)

DAY 8: ESNA

Visit one of the best-preserved temples of Egypt located at Edfu. This temple was dedicated to the god Horus, the principal of Resurrection. He is depicted in his role as avenger of his father, Osiris, who was murdered by his brother Seth. Continue sailing to Esna to the temple dedicated to one of the most ancient Egyptian gods, Khnum. The temple is chiefly interesting for its mysterious astronomical ceilings and well-preserved relief. In the afternoon enjoy sailing on the Nile as you watch from the deck as life unfolds along the shores of the great river. (B.L.D.)

DAY 9: LUXOR

Sail today to what has been called the world’s greatest open-air museum. Luxor is filled with a vast array of temples and other ancient Egyptian monuments. Today to visit the vast burial city called the Necropolis of Thebes located on the West Bank of the Nile. Your visit will take you to the Colassi of Memnon, the Temple of Queen Hatsbepsut at Deir El Bahari, the Valley of the Kings, and the nearby Valley of the Queens. (B.L.D.)

DAY 10: LUXOR- CAIRO

{mosimage} Disembark this morning. Our city tour includes Temple of Luxor located in the center of town dedicated to the God Amon-Ra. It was expanded by Ramses II, who added many statues of himself. We proceed by carriage or donkey ride to the Temple of Quark, built over a period of 1000 years, and connected by the Avenue of the Sphinxes. Then visit historic Themes, and the Valley of the Kings and Queens, where we see over 60 tombs with excavations still continuing. The tombs are of the Kings (including the most famous King Tutankhamun) of various Dynasties. We board a short flight to Cairo. Overnight Cairo. (B.L.D.)

DAY 11: RETURN TO THE USA

Transfer to airport for your return flight back home. (B.)
