DAY 1: USA TO IRELAND

Depart on an overnight flight to Ireland.

DAY 2: DUBLIN

Welcome to Ireland! Discover Dublin’s Fair City. Your tour includes the famous “ Doors of Dublin”, the elegant Georgian squares, and Phoenix Park. Highlights of the tour will be visits to St. Patrick Cathedral and Guinness Storehouse, home to Ireland’s famous black stout. You are then transferred to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the afternoon to become acclimated to this wonderful cultural city and a new time zone. Overnight Dublin. (D.)

DAY 3: CASHEL- KILKENNY- WATERFORD

Visit the town of Cashel where St. Patrick is said to have plucked a shamrock to explain the mystery of the Trinity.  View the magnificent monastic remains of the Rock of Cashel. Visit Kilkenny, a typical Irish city where you see the Castle, St. Canicle Cathedral and pay a visit to John F. Kennedy Park. Continue to the seaport city of Waterford, home of the famous crystal factory. View the 18th-century Cathedral before settling into your Waterford hotel. Overnight Waterford. (B.D.)

DAY 4: CORK- BLARNEY- KILLARNEY

After touring the world famous crystal factory, we visit the Old Midleton Distillery and the Jameson Heritage Center. Learn the history and process of making Irish whiskey.  We have a tour and tasting, which sets us up nicely for the next visit to to the Blarney Castle. You may wish to kiss the famous “Blarney Stone”, and receive the “ gift of gab”. Stop at the world famous Blarney Woolen Mills for great gift shopping. We also visit Cork, the Republic of Ireland’s second largest city. Visit St. Finbarr’s Cathedral, The 19th century French Gothic style cathedral, before continuingto your hotel in County Cork for overnight. (B.D.)

DAY 5: MUCKROSS ABBEY – RING OF KERRY

Start your day with a visit to Muckross House and the 15th-century Franciscan Muckross Abbey.  We’ll take a tour in a typical Irish horse and cart. Enjoy a drive around the panoramic 100-mile Ring of Kerry where you will see the most spectacular scenery in Ireland. Overnight Kerry region.(B.D.)

DAY 6: CLARE COAST-BURREN- CLIFFS OF MOHER

{mosimage} Travel northward to Tarbert for a ferry crossing, then continue up the Clare Coast to see the Burren region, a strange and unique area, where large gray slabs of fissured limestone resemble the surface of the moon. The visit includes the Cliffs of Moher, the majestic headlands rising 750 feet above the Atlantic. Then on to Galway, “ the City of Tribes”, a lively city with cosmopolitan charm. Legend has it that Christopher Columbus prayed at the Church of St. Nicholas in Galway before setting off on his voyage to America. Overnight Galway. (B.D.)

DAY 7: CROAGH PATRICK – WESTPORT

Drive along the coast, through the rugged scenery of Connemara, where the inhabitants still speak Gaelic.  This is without a doubt the wildest and most romantic part of Ireland. We stop at Kylemore Abbey, a Benedictine Abbey of great beauty to tour its magnificent estate. We stop at Croagh Patrick, the 2,500-foot conical tipped mountain, Holy Mountain. St. Patrick is said to have spent the forty days of Lent in prayer and fasting here in the year 441 A.D. This stone mountain is another famous pilgrimage place where the Irish climb barefoot over the rugged rocks to the top. Situated on the inlet of Clew Ba is the most attractive wooded town of Westport, where you will enjoy a stay for the next two nights. (B.D.)

DAY 8: BALLINTUBBER ABBEY- KNOCK

We see the Ballintubber Abbey, Ireland’s only royal abbey in continuous use for 776 years. Continue on to Knock, known as the “Lourdes of Ireland”, for a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady, Queen of Ireland. In 1879 the parish church of Knock was the scene of an apparition of the Blessed Virgin, St. Joseph and St. John, the Evangelist. There were fifteen official witnesses to the apparition, in which Our Lady wore a white cloak, with a brilliant crown of roses on her head. In September of 1979, Pope John Paul II, made a pilgrimage to Knock Shrine, which is one of the few apparition sites approved by the Catholic church. We celebrate Mass at the Apparition Chapel, visit the Folk Museum, pray the Stations of the Cross, and join the Rosary Procession, as well as, the Anointing of the Sick at the Basilica. Return to Westport for overnight. (B.D.)

DAY 9: DRUMCLIFF-DONEGAL

This morning you depart for Yeats County. Stop at St. Attracta’s Well, the site where St. Attracta took the veil from St. Patrick. Continue via St. Bridget’s Holy Well to Drumcliff Graveyard, to see where the great Irish poet William Butler Yeats is buried. Overnight Dublin. (B.D)

DAY 10: DUBLIN

Today is filled with sights of Dublin. Drive through statue-lined O’Connell Street, Dublin’s most famous thoroughfare. We visit the Trinity College to see the Book of Kells, housed in the Collonades. We also visit Christchurch where tradition tells us St. Patrick baptized the first Christians on Irish soil in the 5th century. Then on to the Treasury Collection at the National Museum containing the priceless Irish antiquities as well as the Chalice of Ardagh and St. Patrick’s staff. Overnight Dublin. (B.D.)

DAY 11: RETURN TO THE USA

Transfer to the airport for your flight back home. (B.)
