DAY 1: DEPART U.S.A

You’ll leave this evening on an overnight flight to Paris.

DAY 2: PARIS

After a morning arrival in Paris, we will be met by our English speaking tour guide and board our, private motor coach. After settling into our hotel, we embark on a city bus tour of Paris followed by a get acquainted welcome dinner which includes a taste of the local wines. Overnight Paris. (D)

DAY 3: CHARTRES

This morning we make a visit to a small, private garden in Le Perray just outside of Paris where we are welcome by French landscape designer Sonia Gauron. This is a unique garden rich with landscape ideas. We move on to Chartres where we absorb the grandeur of the renowned Chartres cathedral later this afternoon we continue on a short journey to the nearby village of Remalard where by special arrangement we will meet and visit with Madame D’andlalu. a French countess who will introduce us to their romantic private garden. “La petite Rochelle.” We return to Chartres for dinner and overnight at leisure. DAY 4: ROUEN

On the way to Rouen we stop in Giverny for a morning visit to the house and garden of Claude Monet. We experience this world-renowned garden in its late-spring prime. Our timing is perfect. Later we arrive in Rouen, our base for the next three-day. Our hotel is in the “old city” where the young French heroine Jeanne D’Arc was martyred. Here we are surrounded by architecture rich in history and design. The afternoon and evening are yours for exploring on your own or perhaps to join an optional walking tour. Overnight in Rouen. DAY 5: NORMANDY

In Normandy we are surrounded by history. Today we shift gears as bit as our coach travels to the memorial at Omaha beach where the World War II allied forces landed in France. We also visit the American Museum. Later this afternoon we will stop at the colorful seaport villages of Honfleur, and Trouville and see Queen Mathilda’s famous tapestries. We return to Rouen in time for dinner. (B.D.)

DAY 6: VARENGEVILLE SUR MER

Another memorable day for garden lovers! Our destination is Varengeville Sur Mer, a quiet and beautiful village along the sea near Dieppe. Here we visit three wonderful gardens. All uniquely different. First the small private garden of Madame Kargere to be followed by the masterpiece of collaboration between Sir Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll know as Le Boise De Moutiers. In the afternoon we meet princess Sturdza and visit her celebrated garden, Le Vasterival a rich and aesthetic experience with great botanical interest. We return for dinner in Rouen with the evening at leisure. (B.D.)

DAY 7: PARIS

Today, on the way back to Paris we stop for a visit to the spectacular palace and formal gardens of Versailles. The palace, the largest in Europe, was built by Louis XIV. After arriving back in Paris, you will be on your own for the afternoon and evening. (B.)

DAY 8: PARIS

Full day at leisure to explore on your own. (B.)

DAY 9: COTSWOLDS

This morning we depart via Euro star high speed train for our trip to England. We will travel first class beneath the English Channel on our way to begin the second half of our tour. At London waterloo station we are met by our English guide and private motor coach, which will whisk us away to the Cotswolds. Our base for the next three days. After checking into our hotel, we will make a visit to Kiftsgate court. The house and the garden are in a splendid setting are teetering on the edge of a precipititous valley. A serious of enclosed gardens blend formality with generous plantings. The roses here are world famous. Dinner is at our hotel. (B.D.)

DAY 10: WINCHCOMBE

This morning we are off to Winchcombe to visit Sudeley castle, spectacularly grand late medieval castle with a garden that takes full advantage of the architectural setting. in the afternoon we visit the nearby manor at Snohwshill with its modestly sized garden of different levels and endlessly shifting viewpoints. The house if filled with a variety of fascinating collections. We take time to absorb the quiet pastoral beauty that is typical of Cotswolds. Dinner is out our hotel. (B.D.)

DAY 11: COTSWOLD GARDENS

Well known perennial garden designer and author, Rosemary Verey will welcome us this morning to her much photographed garden at Barnsley house near Cirencester, the famous laburnum walk should be in full bloom as we stroll and appreciate the handiwork of this contemporary master of perennial garden design. We will spend the afternoon in Bourton on the water, a quaint and lively Cotswold village. Some may wish to explore the colorful shops or visit the Cotswold perfumeries while others embark on an optional “ramble” through peaceful countryside to the nearby villages of upper and lower slaughter. Dinner at our hotel. (B.D.)

DAY 12: LONDON

Our coach heads back to London where we check into our hotel. We are treated to a private introductory city bus tour of London, which includes such landmarks as the Tower of London, Westminster Cathedral and the Buckingham Palace. Dinner is at our hotel with the evening at leisure. Tonight you may decide to enjoy a theater performance. Overnight London. (B.D.)

DAY 13: LONDON

On this, our last day, you will be free to explore London as you wish. We meet for a Beefeater, medieval show and dinner (B.D.)

DAY 14: LONDON

Our flight returns to USA.
