DAY 1: DEPART U.S.A.

Depart on an overnight flight to Barcelona.

DAY 2: BARCELONA

Welcome to Spain. Your tour escort greets you at the airport. You are transferred to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure and opportunity to become acclimated with this wonderful Catalan city. Stroll in the Ramblas section and enjoy the city, as it comes alive in the evening. (D.)

DAY 3: BARCELONA- MONSERRAT

This morning celebrate Mass, followed by a city tour, including the famous Sagrada de Familia Church. In the afternoon travel to the Monastery of Monserrat, to visit the Royal Basilica and view the venerated Black Madonna, which according to tradition was carved by St. Luke. Overnight Barcelona. DAY 4/5: LOURDES

Today you depart for the great pilgrimage center of Lourdes. Celebrate Mass at the Basilica, attend the Blessing of the Sick, and pray the Stations of the Cross. Bathe in the Miraculous Waters of the Baths and visit places associated with the Apparition and the life of St. Bernadette in Lourdes. In the evening participate in the Candlelight Procession as you sing hymns in honor of the Blessed Mother. Overnight Lourdes. (B.D.)

DAY 6: ZARAGOZA- MADRID

Today motor west to Zaragoza, to see the Shrine of our Lady of Pillar, where the Blessed Mother appeared to St. James, Patron Saint of Spain in 40 A. D. and celebrate Mass here, before continuing on to Madrid. Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Madrid. (B.D.)

DAY 7: MADRID

This morning the tour of Madrid includes a visit to Puerta del Sol, Retiro Park, Plaza de Espana, and the Royal Palace. The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the Spanish capitol or take an optional tour to Toledo. Overnight Madrid. (B.)

DAY 8: MADRID–EL ESCORIAL-AVILA

Today visit the world famous Monastery of El Escorial, and the Valley of the Fallen where a gigantic cross and a cavernous basilica carved into a rocky hillside commemorate the victims of a bloody civil war. Continue to Avila, the City of Kings and of Saints, completely encircled by 11th century walls. This is the birthplace of St. Theresa one of the greatest mystics of the Church. Celebrate Mass at the Convent of St. Theresa, where Theresa was born, and visit the Convent of the Madres, the first convent she founded as well as the Convent of the Incarnation and her cell. DAY 9: SALAMANCA- ALBA DE TORMES – SANTIAGO

This morning follow the route of St. Theresa to Alba de Tormes where you see the Saint’s well-preserved body. Celebrate Mass here before departing for O Cebreiro, the first Galican village on the Pilgrim’s Way where the miracle of the “ holy grail” is said to have occurred. Overnight Santiago. (B.D.)

DAY 10: SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

All roads lead to Santiago, one of the greatest pilgrimage centers in the world. This morning you see the Cathedral built in honor of St. James, the first pilgrim. Visit the tomb of the Apostle, and his disciples St. Theodore and St. Athanasius. St. James was given the task of spreading Christianity in distant Hispanic lands, and we join with pilgrim’s from all over the world in celebrating the Holy Year and attending the Pilgrim’s Mass, as well as all other planned activities during this special time. Also see the Church of San Francisco, built in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, after his pilgrimage here. Overnight Santiago. (B.D.)

DAY 11: PONTEVEDRA – PORTO – FATIMA

This morning celebrate Mass at the Cathedral, before departing for Pontevedra, another great Spanish Shrine, where you see the magnificent Cathedral. Continue to Porto and stop for lunch and wine tasting at a local winery, to taste the famous port wines. We stop in Coimbra to see the Convent where Sr. Lucia still lives before arriving Fatima for overnight. (B.D.)

DAY 12: FATIMA

Today celebrate Mass at the Little Chapel of Apparitions followed by a visit to the Basilica, and site of Francisco and Jacinta’s grave. Visit the hamlet of Aljustrel, where the children lived, and Valinhos, site of our Lady’s appearance. In the afternoon pray the stations of the Via Sacra. This evening join the spectacular Candlelight Procession. Overnight Fatima. (B.D.)

DAY 13: RETURN TO THE U.S.A.

Transfer to airport for your flight back home.
