DAY 1: DEPART U.S.

You’ll leave this evening on an overnight flight to Lisbon.

DAY 2: LISBON

Welcome to Portugal. You are greeted by your tour guide and embark on a panoramic tour of Lisbon. You see St. Jeronimo’s Monastery, which is the birthplace of St. Anthony of Padua, and Belem Tower, as well as the Statue of Christ the King, before settling into your hotel for overnight. Tonight we have a welcome dinner, with the sad Fado music in a local Fado palace. Overnight Lisbon. (D.)

DAY 3: EVORA- ST. PAUL CONVENT

We depart Lisbon this morning to a rich and fertile region called Alentejo on our way to Evora, for a city tour. We then continue to the town which houses the Miracle of the Roses where we celebrate Mass and finally to our destination of St. Paul Convent in the middle of the wine growing region. This incredible place will inspire, uplift and envelop you with its serenity as no other place you have visited. We stay in unique cell rooms each being a work of art, where monks used to stay, and in the evening feast on the best food in Portugal in their five star restaurant. This is now a Pousada and one of the most breathtaking and beautiful with two private chapels for private devotion and prayer. Overnight St. Paul Convent. (B.D.)

DAY 4: FATIMA

Following breakfast we depart for the church of St. Stephen at Santarem, where you view the Venerated Relic of the Bleeding Host. Then we continue to Fatima. Our visit tonight is to the village where the children lived, Aljustrel, and Valinhos the site of the apparition of the Blessed Mother. Tonight in Fatima join the Candlelight Processions. DAY 5: FATIMA

Join in the celebration of Mass at the Basilica and visit the graves of Francisco and Jacinta. Walk to Cova Da Ira, and the Chapel of Apparitions. In the afternoon see Valinhos, where Our Lady appeared to the children and Aljustrel, where they lived. Pray the Stations of the Cross along the Via Sacra. Overnight Fatima. (B.D.)

DAY 6: BATALHA, ALCOBACA and NAZARE

Our morning starts with a visit to Alcobaca, Portugal’s largest church.  We then continue to Batalha to see the masterpiece of Gothic arhitecture, including the unique unifinished chapels. Here we celebrate Mass. Our lunch stop is in Nazare the charming fishing village. Overnight Fatima. (B.D.)

DAY 7: FATIMA-COIMBRA-BALAZAR-BRAGA

After Mass at the Grotto, we’ll depart for a trip through the pretty countryside dotted with villages and vineyards to Coimbra to see the Carmelite convent where Sister Lucia lived, and to see the incorrupt body of St. Isabel. We depart toward the Spanish border where we visit Balazar home of the Blessed Alexandrina. Overnight Braga area. (B.D.)

DAY 8: BOM JESUS- PORTO

We visit the Shrine of Bom Jesus de Monte, Portugal’s most spectacular religious sanctuary, featuring the steep Sacred Way with chapels of the 14 Stations of the Cross, crowned by the church at the top. Here we celebrate Mass and spend most of the day. On the way back to Porto, time permitting, we stop at a winery to taste the local Mateus wine, so well known to us in the US. Overnight Porto. DAY 9:PORTO

We explore Porto on a city tour, and in the afternoon have time at leisure to shop for last minute gifts, including some special Port for which this city is known. Tonight we have a farewell dinner with wine as we fondly recollect all the wonderful moments and special blessing we had on this journey. Overnight Porto. (B.D.)
