Today visit the hilltop home of St. Francis. Celebrate Mass at the church of Santa Maria Degli Angeli, which contains the famous Porziuncola, the chapel where St. Francis consecrated St. Clare. Also visit the Basilica of St. Clare, where you see her incorrupt body in the crypt. At the convent of San Damiano, see where the Miracle of the Eucharist of Assisi took place in 1241, twelve years before St. Clare died. Visit the church where St. Francis wrote the “Canticle of the Sun”, and see the place where St. Clare lived. Overnight Assisi. (B.D.)

Morning at leisure in Assisi, afternoon visit to Siena. Depart through the Umbrian countryside to the beautiful town of Siena, birthplace of St. Catherine. Located in the central Italian region of Tuscany this medieval walled city to this day retains much of its charm. Mass will be scheduled at St. Catherine’s. You will also see the Basilica of St. Dominic and the Basilica of the Osservanza, founded by St. Bernadine, one of Catholic Church’s greatest preachers. Besides being known as the birthplace of St. Catherine, Siena is also the home of one of the longest ongoing Eucharistic miracles in the world. You see the collection of incorrupt hosts in the small church of St. Francis, which dates back to 1730. The miraculous preservation of these consecrated hosts defies physical or chemical explanations. Overnight Assisi. (B.D.)

After breakfast depart for Cascia, home of the beloved St. Rita and Miracle of the Eucharist. See the Basilica of St. Rita with her incorrupt body, relics from her life and the stained glass windows surrounding the main altar depicting the Eucharistic Miracle of Siena, which shows an open book, with two red round stains facing each other. Today, in the lower chapel of the basilica, a special Monstrance holds the pages that reveal the blood stains.  In the stains is the perfect portrait outline of Christ’s face. Celebrate Mass at the Cathedral. Overnight Assisi. (B.D.)

Today we proceed to a little visited but religiously and culturally important area. Our first stop is Bolsena, famous for the miracle of St. Cristina who was tortured because of her deep Christian faith. This is also the home of the Eucharistic Miracle of Bolsena. Continue to Viterbo, the town of masterpieces, where vivid memories of pontiffs and saints as well as a bold architectural style keep the Middle Ages alive. Stone lions, the symbol of Viterbo are everywhere, as are reminders that this was once the Papal city.

We tour the Papal Palace , and soul of the city, the Sanctuary of St. Rosa and the Museum associated with her life. Groups may choose to continue to Rome or visit the magnificent gardens of Villa Lanta, built by a Cardinal, and typical of a Renaissance garden. (Garden visit optional). Late afternoon arrival in Rome . (B.D.)

Today you are at the center of Western civilization and the heart of modern Italy. The “Eternal City”, where three millennia of Mediterranean civilization co-exist, is full of larger than life monuments, which you see during the Ancient and Christian Rome tour. You marvel at the treasures of the Vatican Museum including a tour of the Sistine Chapel. You see the Roman Forum, the Coliseum, Piazza Venezia, Via Veneto, Aurelian Wall, Castle Sant’ Angelo, and more. Many pilgrims walk here from Rome, in hope that they will be granted grace or a miracle.  We continue to the lovely Castelli Romani area and Castel Gandolfo, overlooking Lake Albano and used by the Popes as their summer residence. Leaving the square of the Papal Residence we go down to the lake and the Convent of Santa Mari in Palazzolo and the Convent of the Capuchins built over a thousand years ago with life size statues by Bernini. Tonight we have a farewell dinner with wine and music in a typical Roman tratorria. (B.D.)
