LOURDES
+

After breakfast, we celebrate Mass. Today we watch a video presentation telling the story of Lourdes and walk in the footsteps of St. Bernadette. See Boly Mill, where St. Bernadette was born, and the Cachot, an abandoned prison where St. Bernadette’s impoverished family lived. We join our prayers with those of pilgrims from around the world as we pray for the sick, drink water from the miraculous spring or submerge ourselves in the healing baths. Experience Christ’s love as we walk the life-size Stations of the Cross overlooking the Holy Grotto. Kneel in the chapel built on the very rock of the Grotto, in obedience to the request of the “Immaculate Conception.” In the evening, we have an opportunity to join in the Blessed Sacrament Procession. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes.

Day 4May 6, 2026
ZARAGOZA - BURGOS
+

This morning, we journey into Spain, and our first stop is Zaragoza, where we visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. It was here that the Blessed Mother appeared to St. James the Greater in 40 A.D. This is the only known instance of the Virgin Mary appearing to someone while she was still alive to encourage St. James in his preaching of the Gospel in Spain. Here we celebrate Mass. After lunch, we depart for Burgos, where we visit the magnificent Cathedral of Burgos, a Gothic structure and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The church began in 1221, built in the High Gothic style, and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Dinner and overnight in Burgos.

Day 5May 7, 2026
SEGOVIA - AVILA
+

We check out of our hotel, board our motor coach, and head to Avila to see the magnificent walled city dedicated to St. Teresa of Avila. En route, we stop at Segovia, the city of St. John of the Cross, one of the great Catholic mystics. AVILA
+

Here in Avila the atmosphere has changed very little since the days of St. Teresa, to whom the city is dedicated. St. Teresa, the great mystic, was the first woman to be named a Doctor of the Church. We visit the crypt of La Santa Convent, built on the site of the house where she was born; La Encarnacion Convent, where St. Teresa became a nun and home to the most comprehensive museum dedicated to her life; the Cathedral and the Cuatro Postes (four columns) which commemorates the time when St. Teresa, at the age of seven, convinced her brother to run away with her to die as martyrs in the land of the Moors. Their uncle caught them at Cuatro Postes site and returned them home. We celebrate Mass and have time at leisure to explore the city on our own. Dinner and overnight in Avila.

Day 7May 9, 2026
ALBA DE TORMES - SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

We then depart for O Cebreiro, the first Galician village on the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago. We visit Santa María la Real, a pre-Romanesque church, the oldest on the entire French Road of the Camino de Santiago. It is renowned for its Holy Grail and the eucharistic miracle that occurred there. We continue on our way to Santiago de Compostela while admiring the charming Galician countryside.
