Following breakfast, we return to the Old Town for a 90-minute walking tour, beginning with a visit to St. Blase Church, where we celebrate Mass. We enter the city through Pile Gate, onto Stradun, the main street. Since the 13th century, this limestone street that crosses the width of the Old Town has been Dubrovnik’s main thoroughfare. Along it, we see countless elegant Venetian buildings that make walking here feel like we have traveled back in time. The street has been used as a filming location, not only for Game of Thrones but also for Star Wars. Before making our way down the street, be sure to take a moment to admire the 15th-century Large Onofrio Fountain just inside the Pile Gate. Continue to the Gothic and Renaissance-style Rector’s Palace, home to the History Department of the Museum of Dubrovnik. Next, we stroll by the iconic Bell Tower Clock and Orlando’s Column. To the left of this column is the Sponza Palace. Our final stop on the tour is the Dominican and Franciscan Monasteries. Enjoy lunch on your own at one of the many small, family-owned restaurants along the narrow streets, with the rest of the day at leisure to explore the walled city. We suggest taking the cable car up to Mount Srdj with an amazing view of Dubrovnik and booking dinner at Restaurant Panorama ( reservations are necessary). Dinner is at leisure. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
