Join Rev. Joseph Philor on Pilgrimage

The Reverend Father Joseph Philor was born on 9 July 1954, in Jean-Rabel in the northwest of Haiti. He did his classical studies and was trained as an agricultural technician. In 1977, he joined the Company of Mary, the Montfortain family, as an aspirant. He made his first vows on 8 September 1980 and the definitive commitment on 8 September 1985. The Reverend Father Philor was ordained on 28 December 1986.

From 1986 to 1989, he was in charge of coordinating five neighboring parishes, all under the responsibility of Montfortain priests. After this period of experience, in 1990, he travelled to Canada to further his studies at Saint Paul University in Ottawa, where he obtained his Master in Missionary Enterprise of the Church.

From 1990 to 1996, Fr. Philor was an adviser to the Provincial of the Montfortain congregation and in 1996, he was elected Provincial of the Haitian province and re-elected in 2002. After attending the general assembly of his congregation, he became a member of the new general administration in Rome for six years.

He returned to Haiti in July 2011 after the devastating earthquake and on 23 August 2011, he joined the Foyer de Charité, where he has been the “Father of the Foyer” since January 2013. From 2017 Father Jospeh Philor is also a member of the vicariate for Consecrated Life of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince of the auxiliary bishop responsible for religious life in the archdiocese.
